A Kids Day Tour To Gathoni Sensory Garden

Gathoni Sensory Garden Kids Tour

1. Tea Farm Tour

First, the kids are taken to tea farming, where they get to pick some leaves and are shown exactly which tea leaves they need to pick.

2. Composition and Potting

The kids will then proceed to the composting and potting area. This is where the kids learn how to mix different soil types, compost and plant different herbs or flowers. Then they will enjoy planting their plants and taking them home with them. Then they are taught how to care for the plants. This is a lot of fun for the kids.

3. Animal Care

The children will then move on to the animals, where they take care of lambs, rabbits, geese, and chickens. Gathoni Tea Farm has numerous cute sheep that are very friendly.

4. Donkey Car Ride

The kids will then go for a donkey ride. They will love being pulled on a cart by two donkeys. This takes you back to a time when this was a mode of transportation.

5. Sensory Garden Tour

After that, the kids will visit the Gathoni Sensory Garden. This is a place where they can smell, taste, and touch various types of herbs, flowers, and plants, awakening all five senses. It is a delightful experience for them.

The children are given scented bags and instructed to gather various types of herbs. They will have the opportunity to taste lavender, rosemary, lemon verbena, lemongrass, orange mint, common thyme, lemon thyme, and pineapple sage. There are so many different scents and flavours. You will be pleasantly surprised by how much the kids will enjoy this activity.

6. Herbal Tea Tasting

Kids are then treated to an expansive tea tasting of all the delicious herbal variants made at Gathoni Tea Farm Kitchen, including their luxurious tea line. The tea is all freshly made and prepared, farm-to-table style. The tea is served with homemade biscuits. The kids also get to take some home as well.

7. Fishing

The kids are going to try their luck at fishing in Lake Tigoni.

Kids tours are done on;

  • Monday-Friday: 10 am -12 pm
  • Saturday: 9 am- 11 am

The cost of the Gathoni Sensory and Tea Farm tour is Ksh 600 per child.

NOTE: Adult tours are also available but at Ksh 1,800 per adult.
